V12-2000 yacht engine

The V12-2000 impresses with an extremely high power density of 61 kW per litre of displacement. This creates a clear advantage in ship design over comparably powerful engines with larger displacement and more cylinders due to the low space requirement and low weight. The already compact installation dimensions of the highest power rating of the V12-1900 to date have remained the same. This is exactly 2,159 x 1,153 x 1,272 mm (length x width x height) for the V12-2000. The also identical dry weight of 2,380 kg (V12-2000) results in a significantly lower power-to-weight ratio of 1.62 kg/kW for the V12-2000 due to the power increase. “With the V12-2000, we have set a new benchmark in terms of performance and compactness”, says Claus Benzler, Head of Marine MAN Engines.

New modifications

Through a series of modifications, MAN engineers have managed a power increase of 100 HP (74 kW) respectively, compared to the previously most powerful V12 engine from their range. An improved injection system and new turbochargers assist in the power delivery. This is aided by newly developed cylinder heads and an adjusted cooling system which provides noticeable thermal relief for the engine with its high performance. A new crankcase, reinforced at significant points, also ensures the presentation of high performance over the long life of the engine. Thanks to its highly efficient combustion, the V12-2000 impresses with the smooth running and low fuel consumption as is typical for MAN Engines.

Maximum efficiency

The V12-2000 offers customers the highest engine output from the MAN Engines range, exceeding even that of the previously most powerful V12-1900. The superior engine performance allows shipyards to access additional possibilities for equipping larger ship series of around 100 feet with MAN engines.

Common emission certificates available

The V12-2000 engines meet the currently valid emission requirements US EPA Tier 3 (private use), IMO Tier II, China 2 (private use) and RCD 2013/53/EC and may therefore be operated in all common and popular areas.
